Helsinki International Boat Show, 11-20 February 2011:
The 2011 Helsinki International Boat Show will present a more comprehensive review of what’s new in boating and aquatic life than before. The exhibited sailboats in particular will form one of the most impressive totalities of the Boat Show, but the motorboat exhibition will also feature some truly innovative new models.
Some 21 sailboats will be on display at the yacht jetty alone – this is more than at any previous Boat Show. In all, almost 30 boats will fill Hall 1. According to information received from exhibitors, these will include sailboats such as the Sun Odyssey 409, which has not been displayed in Finland before. This fast and elegant new model combines the best features of the Jeanneau range with fantastic sailing characteristics. Other exhibits are the Xc 38, which is the fourth model of X-Yachts’ successful Cruising range and has been nominated for the European Yacht of the Year award in the Luxury Cruising category. Other brand new models being displayed at the fair include the Bavaria 36 Cruiser, Finn Flyer 34 Club and Saare 38.
New motorboat exhibits include some Uttern models as well as the Beneteau Antares 30 and Yamarin’s 65 Day Cruiser, whose design focuses especially on optimising the efficiency of space utilisation. Bayliner models, such as the 245 Cruiser, will also be on display at the Boat Show.
63 Bow Rider and 61 Center Console, the first models of the Yamarin Cross range, are some of the aluminium boats to be exhibited. Several new models from the Fiskars-owned Drive boat range will also be seen. New Buster models, which are intended for general purpose use at summer cabins and elsewhere or for more demanding boat travel, fishing or other hobby use, will complement the range of aluminium boats on display at the fair.
Also an electric boat – the Greenline 33 Hybrid, which was named the best motorboat of the year at the 2010 Düsseldorf boat show, will be seen at the show.
In addition to boats, Finland’s biggest boating exhibition will display the latest in boating supplies, a diverse range of services on offer to boaters, fishing lures, permits and gear as well as information for summer cabin boaters and people getting started with boating. The programme stage in the vicinity of the advice desk for beginner boaters in Hall 3 is a great place to hear travel tips, tales of sailing adventures and basic information on boating.
