CAN DESIGN BECOME A SIGNIFICANT COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE FOR FINNIHS BOAT MANUFACTURERS
This year's Boat Show will for the first time include a new exhibition called Vene 12 Båt Design in which the interiors of four motorboats will be refitted to the plans of four well-known Finnish designers. Visitors can look forward to exciting new ideas from industrial designer Hannu Kähönen, furniture designer Ilkka Suppanen, designer Susan Elo and Interior Architecture Studio Kaisa B. The finished boats will be on display at the 2012 Helsinki International Boat Show at the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre on 10-19 February 2012.
This exhibition will be realised in cooperation with Finnish boat manufacturers Bella-Veneet, Sarins Boats and Finn-Marin. Bella's Aquador 26 DC and Falcon 26 Fantino, Finn-Marine's Finnmaster 76 CA and Sarins Boats' Minor Offshore 28 will receive a revamp. All of these models have sleeping berths for 4-6 people, a dining and lounging area, a cooking unit, a steering station and WC facilities.
The audience will select the best exhibited interior design solution and its designer will receive an award after the fair. A jury of experts will also name its favourite design totality, which will be published at the opening of the exhibition. The interior solutions will emphasise design, functionality, ecological thinking and comfort. The aim of this exhibition is to plot a fresh direction for the Finnish boat industry, enabling it to differentiate from the competition and strengthen the cooperation between Finnish designers and boat manufacturers as well as to provide consumers with access to new, more individual interior decoration solutions.
The Vene 12 Båt Design exhibition is being organised by the Finnish Fair Corporation and its producer is Mainostoimisto Valo Oy.

The 2012 Helsinki International Boat Show takes place on 10-19 February. The biggest boating fair in Northern Europe is being organised by the Finnish Fair Corporation on behalf of the Finnish Marine Industries Federation Finnboat.
