Helsinki the 25th most popular congress city in the world

Helsinki ranks the 25th among the congress cities of the world according to recent statistics by the Union of International Associations (UIA), an organisation compiling statistics on international congresses. A total of 1,309 cities were included in the comparison. Finland ranked the 21st among 183 congress countries according to these statistics. UIA compiles annual statistics on congress countries and cities.

The largest congress event in Finland in 2012 is the World Library and Information Congress, IFLA, hosted by Helsinki City Library. The congress, with more than 3,000 participants, takes place on 11–16 August at the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre.
