As the leading congress organiser in Finland, Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre wants to be responsible and lead the way in addressing environmental issues, too. Our goal is to reduce our carbon footprint. This work is encouraged by our quality management system, certified to the ISO 14001 standard.
Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre has acquired a carbon footprint calculator that the customers can use to calculate the carbon footprint of their events. The calculator is available on our web site.
Why to measure the carbon footprint?
Carbon footprint is a worldwide known measure for expressing the influence of a product or service to climate change in a concrete and comparable way.
Carbon footprint calculator gives information about venue's carbon footprint and makes the environmental operations of the venue transparent to the customers. It calculates the carbon footprint information for an event and takes into account the space, the number of guests and the length of the meeting.
Our carbon footprint calculation is based on venue specific operational source data and the result is given in CO2-equivalent (CO2e). In an event the main factors affecting carbon footprint are energy consumption, water consumption and waste.
